The Business Analytics concentration provides students with the necessary skills and tools which will enable them to solve specific problems and determine decisions for an organization. In this concentration, students cover descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive methods and models needed to make informed decisions about optimising operations, managing risk, and effectively handling challenges and opportunities in both structured and unstructured decision environments. Finally, as a multidisciplinary degree, students will learn the statistical and quantitative methods used to analyse data and provide useful information to decision makers, and training in both technical skills, business fundamentals, management practices, leadership, and communication, in addition to those skills specific to business analytics.
The Digital Marketing concentration provides students with the strategic and analytical skills to guide organizations in a digital world that are overflowing with data on customers, products, and interactions. In this concentration, the students will be equipped with the skills and tools needed to engage audiences through digital media and effectively market businesses through these networks. Students will learn to develop marketing strategies and effective business planning for digital marketing which will enable them to become experts in leveraging social media for business growth.
The Risk Management concentration provides students with the necessary skills and tools which will enable them to analyze and predict movements in the financial markets for the purpose of fostering sustainable company performance. In this concentration, students will be trained to identify and analyze the potential risks caused by natural disasters, product failures, inflation, volatility in capital markets, recession, and bankruptcy, and measures to limit those risks across entire enterprises and society.
The Entrepreneurship and Innovation concentration provides students with the necessary skills, analytical tools, perspectives, and experiences that prepare them for the entrepreneurial business community. In this concentration, students combine theory with practice which provide them the opportunity to test the theories, models, and strategies learned in the classroom by creating real business plans, working on other field projects, and gaining access and insight from leaders in the entrepreneurial business community in Namibia. Whether a student wants to start a business while in school, join an emerging business, or set the groundwork to launch a new firm later in his or her career, the programme aims to provide preparation for all of these exciting options.
The Logistics and Supply Chain Management concentration provides students with the necessary skills and analytical tools which will enable them to acquire a solid mastery of international operations and supply chain and logistics management concepts and methods. In this concentration, students will effectively use concepts of operations and supply chain management and qualitative and quantitative methods to make appropriate decisions in international business contexts that include new and unfamiliar situations. Students will also learn to design appropriate management plans for global supply chains that are lawful, ethical, and are environmentally and socially responsible.
The Financial Engineering concentration provides students with the necessary skills and analytical tools from finance and economics, engineering, applied mathematics, and statistics to address problems such as derivative securities valuation, strategic planning and dynamic investment strategies, and risk management. In this concentration, students will be trained to adapt theoretical and financial constructs into profitable and innovative opportunities by creating innovative and custom-designed instruments in the marketplace. Finally, students will engineer the future of finance and transform financial theory into practice.
